A King Not Like David

Have you ever wondered how people reacted when Jesus walked the earth? By all accounts, they either loved Him or hated Him. Among those who loved Him, many expected Him to rule like King David—only better. They wanted Jesus to overthrow Rome, dismantle its oppression, and take the throne. But God’s plan was far greater: for Himself to sit on the throne with Yeshua at His right hand.

The Heart of a Nation

Looking around today, I sense that we too are punchy, fearful, and often alone in a crowd. We have stronger relationships with our phones than with our fellow man. We’ve replaced the wisdom of Solomon with the wisdom of the internet. We ache for leadership but often put our hope in men, celebrities, or personalities.

And yet, governments and rulers have limits. Many are realizing the disappointment of expecting salvation from politics. What we see today is the fruit of years of misguided solutions and injustices. God has allowed these circumstances—not to harm us, but to reveal where we’ve misplaced our trust.

The Call to Righteousness

Without God’s wisdom, our strategies are fruitless. With Him, even the hardest seasons bear good fruit. A nation reflects the heart of its people: if the people rebel, the nation is rebellious; if the people are righteous, the nation shines with righteousness.

We are called to reject corruption and impurity, to walk in the righteousness of Christ. His righteousness gives us holy confidence. Even when we reap the consequences of poor choices as a society, we are not abandoned.

Hope in the Desert

It may look like defeat—unpaid bills, unfulfilled jobs, broken families. But the truth is we are surrounded and upheld by His love. The joy of knowing Him sustains us. When we seek His kingdom first, He adds everything we need.

We will be like flowers blooming in the desert. Our souls will be satisfied, whether by widow’s provision or overflowing blessing. These are God’s promises, and He never fails to keep them.

Today, I pray He opens the eyes of our hearts to see Him, know Him, and walk in His wisdom with confidence and joy. After all, the joy of the Lord is our strength.
