May 2, 1970- something, my friends and I set out on a journey that took us out of our hippie comfort zone in Greenwich Village (NYC) into the unknown parts of the United States and Canada. Why? Because we heard Jesus say, “Follow Me.”
Unbeknown to us, we were what folks today are calling, "the Jesus Revolution". We were living on the east coast, but, the same move of the Spirit that sparked the Jesus Movement s on the west coast had made its way east and we were swept up in it. My friends and I had been searching for truth and meaning for our lives. We tired to find it in the obvious cultural expressions of the time - drugs, sex, music, eastern religions, to name just a few. By a miracle of God, we landed on THE TRUTH!
As a Jewish girl, I had no church teaching, no religious "Christian" background. However, even as a child, I prayed and believed in God, a God who answered prayer. In my search for truth I stumbled upon THE TRUTH. Because I believed God spoke to Abraham and Moses, I simply believed He could speak to me. So when my friends challenged me about Jesus being God's Son, well, I asked Him. I prayed and asked God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob if He had a Son named Jesus. And
He showed me, He told me. He gave me eyes to see and a heart to believe.
God is the same, yesterday, today and forever. If you seek Him, He will find you; if you ask He will tell you. God wants to be found by you. He wants to take you out of your familiar, your comfort zone. He wants to show you all sorts of things about His love for you. He wants you to experience and to do the same signs, wonders and miracles His Son did AND even GREATER THINGS. Will you take a chance? Will you answer His call to follow Him into new places, even if it takes you out of your comfort zone? Will you open your heart to let Him resurrect the dreams and hopes? Are you ready for the adventure of a life-time?
