Have you ever designed or created something? It might be as simple as putting pictures on a wall or as complicated as decorating an entire room or even a house. And for those who answered the first question with a “no,” perhaps you haven’t thought about it but creating or designing can be very
simple things from the way we develop our sense of style about the way we dress, the way we set the table for a special meal, bake a cake, or plant a garden. Really, anytime, we add our personal touch to our environment or activities, we are designing and creating.
Whatever you have created or designed, it is a unique expression of you. Even if you were inspired by something you saw in a magazine, online, or in someone else’s home – what you saw was just that, inspiration. Inspion you took and made your own.
The same is true for God. God created each one of us in His image. He was His own inspiration. Think about that for a moment. I don’t know about you, but this thought gives a whole new context for our being “fearfully and wonderfully” made.
I think about a diamond that has many different facets and I wonder, how many facets must God have to be able to create so many people in His image. Each of us a unique expression of God, yet all the same. Its mind boggling!
So, the next time someone tries to tell you, you are less because of your height, your weight, your hair (or lack of hair), the color of skin, drown out those voices with their differing demands. Instead, think to yourself, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I have been created in the image of the Creator, Himself.”
We are a reflection of our perfect Creator who purposefully and skillfully made us. In our uniqueness we have something to offer others. Something no one else can do quite the way we do.
