Birthing in the Spirit: Waiting for His Appointed Time.

There is weightiness in a call to action. As we embrace that weight and press into intercession, the Holy Spirit brings clarity. In prayer, what God has spoken to us —is covered in love. And it is in the place of seeking Him that we begin to discern His perfect timing for releasing a word or stepping into action.
I’m reminded of when I was pregnant. Every woman who has ever been pregnant can identify with this. As the pregnancy goes on, the weight of the baby grows heavier and heavier, more and more uncomfortable to carry. We get to a point where we just can’t wait to give birth, but no matter how urgently we desire it, no matter how anxious we become, we are not in charge of the day or the hour our baby is born.

And as we step into parenthood after that birth—mother or father, especially with our firstborn—we quickly discover how much we did not know, how much we misunderstood. We thought we were prepared, but we learn by doing.
I feel like we are in the same kind of season in the Spirit. We have been carrying the weight of assignment on our lives. God has been watching over this gestation period, waiting. The body of Messiah has been waiting. The world itself is on tiptoe to see us arise.
And when we come to maturity—oh, buckle your seatbelts. The ride will be incredibly wonderful. The responsibility, sobering. But be assured: His joy will be our strength.
