Beyond Jezebel: The Silent Power of Ahab in the Church

A Deceptive Trade: Platform Over Purpose
One of Satan’s clever deceptions was to elevate ministry on a platform over ministry in the trenches of the world.
I remember how discouraging and “less than” I felt working in the marketplace. I also remember how those with visible gifts—especially in music—were elevated, while the rest of us were relegated to audience status. Spectators instead of participants.
It was a lie of limitation that produced either lazy complacency or lust—a craving for someone else’s gifts instead of cultivating our own.

The Church of Victims, Not Victors
We labeled ourselves the Laodicean church, but perhaps we should have called ourselves the victim church. We fell prey to the wiles of the demonic spirit of Jezebel—a counterfeit queen who steals inheritance and identity.
But Jezebel never operates alone. She thrives because Ahab gives her room.
The Overlooked Partner in Deception
Ahab was not powerless—he was passive. There's a difference. He abdicated responsibility but still expected results. He let Jezebel do what he lacked the courage to do himself. And in his passivity, he manipulated outcomes by playing the victim, letting her strength serve his self-interest.
If we’re honest, the Church has done the same. We’ve fixated on calling out Jezebel while ignoring the Ahab within us—the part that stays silent when we should speak, that tolerates compromise to keep the peace, or that hides behind false humility while others fight our battles.
Ahab’s spirit still whispers today: “Let someone else handle it.” And when the Church yields to that, Jezebel finds authority she was never meant to have.
A Call to Courage and Repentance
What are we afraid of? That’s a question each of us must answer, because one size does not fit all. We were never meant to be hidden or silent. We have a place in the public square, in the governmental square, and in every arena where truth and righteousness belong.
We repent for believing the lie that ministry happens only behind pulpits or on stages. We repent for partnering with Ahab—surrendering our authority and trading obedience for comfort.
From Exclusivity to Empowerment
The Cross removed the exclusivity of the prophet, priest, and king culture of the Tanakh
and replaced it with the inclusivity of the Holy Spirit—who baptizes us with fire, power, and identity.
Now we are called His children—His royal priesthood—kings and priests unto God. We are carriers of His presence, filled with the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead.
We carry that fire into the halls of government, into grocery stores, into schools, into homes, and even across social media—everywhere our feet, shod with the gospel of peace, take us.
From Performance to Passion
So stop learning without doing.
Stop doing without loving.
And stop performing—whether on a platform or in your daily routines—with a heart driven by guilt, obligation, or the need to check a religious box instead of love for God.
You already have everything you need for life and godliness because the Triune God resides in you.
Breaking Free from the Lie
We have believed the same lie released in the garden—the lie that says, You are not enough.
But the truth is—you are more than enough.
Today, I unlock the prison of limitation.
I unlock the box of not good enough.
I unlock the door that keeps saying, I need more healing, more finances, more skills, more learning—more, more, more.
And I release this truth:
You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Go. Fight. Win.
We keep pointing at the spirit of Jezebel without repenting for partnering with Ahab.
Enough. Enough. Enough.
Get up, pick up your mat, and walk—then go, fight, and win!
